We are DogsNZ registered breeders of White Swiss Shepherd Dogs located in Auckland, New Zealand. We are primarily focusing on the medium coated variety of WSS. Originally owning collies, we got our first WSS in 2023. That dog is Sansa, who we fell completely in love with and in our opinion is the best family dog we could ask for. She has proven to be incredibly loyal, trustworthy around our children and incredibly clever.
Our dogs are first and foremost cherished family members. We are a family of 4 humans, 2 dogs and Zailey the cat. Our dogs live regular pet dog lives with frequent adventures out in public places. They are very loved by our young children and are easy dogs to take out and about. We take them on holidays with us and to family gatherings. It is important to us to have dogs within a home that are trustworthy and friendly around people of all ages. Which makes them easy to take pretty much anywhere if needed. They are the best family dogs we could ask for.
Having very young children under the age of 3, this presents a family environment for our future puppies to grow up in. Kids can feel unpredictable to a lot of dogs and it's not uncommon for dogs to feel uncomfortable around them. The pups of Leylyn will be raised with these small humans who will be eager to play, pat and smother them with love. Which can provide a solid foundation and an easy transition into family life if that's where they are going or to be able to handle kids out and about if they don't have little humans of their own.
I (Rebecca) have professionally worked with dogs in a variety of positions within the animal care industry. Including vet assistant, senior dog handler in dog day cares, owned my own dog walking and training business, instructor in puppy preschool and dog manners classes. I have a certificate in Dog Psychology, Behaviour and Training as well as a Pet First Aid Certificate. I started off as a dog lover, which developed into the love of dog training and sports which is now developing into keenly learning about dog genetics, structure and breeding. I am now a stay-at-home mum to my two daughters, but my passion for dogs remains the same. Becoming a breeder has been a dream of mine and I am still in disbelief that this dream is becoming a reality.
